Our Story

Hi, we're Katie + Mark, aka Heads & Tails!

We founded Heads & Tails in 2010 because we wanted to help dog owners just like us. We believe dogs aren't just pets - they are treasured family members. They deserve the best care we can possibly provide. But sometimes, the commitments of daily life leave us short on quality time to spend with our besties, and these demands are ever-increasing, all the time.

We felt guilty going to work all day and leaving our companions without company. The daily "puppy dog eyes" were a killer... and the "redecorated" house! We knew there must be others just like us, who felt the same way: people who wanted to be the best dog owners, but found there just weren't enough hours in the day.

So we started a little service to helping other pet parents give their dogs the best life possible. We'd had some experience with similar companies, and found our values were quite different. We believe in the utmost integrity, and never taking shortcuts when it comes to dogs' happiness & well-being. Dogs are our top priority, so we place their health and safety first. Always. 

We also believe in positive, friendly reward-based training - because dogs should be treated with respect. You might call us a bit "particular" on those things! But it became obvious we weren't alone - our little service unexpectedly grew quickly with like-minded clients who were after the best quality care.

Today we help loads of different clients for different reasons... but the one thing they all share a great love of their dogs - and that's why they find us. We offer a range of services to make our clients lives easier and happier. We turn frustrated dogs into relaxed dogs, and guilty parents into proud ones. We exercise, entertain, and enrich dogs, introduce them to new friends, and teach them good houndly manners. We utilise our Accredited Gentle Handling style which fosters trust, and generates long-term behavioural improvements without the use of force or fear.

We give dogs something to look forward to during the day, when they would otherwise be bored and lonely. We live to make tails wag - and we're grateful for the privilege.
